The purpose of ASV scanning is to identify security vulnerabilities and errors in computers connected to the Internet. At least once every 90 days, organizations subject to the PCI DSS standard (requirement 11.3.2) that process, transmit and store card data are required to do so. In the latest version of the PCI DSS (PCI DSS v4.0), the requirement to conduct ASV scans applies to all companies that have e-commerce sites and accept payment online.
