Innovation That Inspires and Challenges That Drive Us Forward

Inside this article:

  • The most exciting innovations from Money 20/20
  • New challenges for payment security
  • How Click to Pay is being implemented

From 3rd to 5th June 2025, I had the pleasure of representing Patronusec at Money 20/20 Europe in Amsterdam — an event that is, without question, one of the most significant fixtures in the fintech and payments industry calendar. It’s a place where leaders, innovators, and practitioners converge to share knowledge, inspire one another, and observe first-hand what the future of transactions looks like.

Visa: Where Innovation Meets Emotion

One of the most popular attractions at the conference was the Visa stand, which drew crowds not only with its Formula 1 car but, more importantly, with a vending machine showcasing the future of payments. Here, attendees could experience first-hand what it means to make a purchase in a world where convenience, speed, and security are paramount.

The process was both simple and fascinating: you entered your name and email address (linked to your payment cards), then completed a facial verification step. Moments later, you could enjoy a brand-new box of LEGO bricks dispensed by the machine. The interest was so overwhelming that queues of up to an hour formed just for the chance to try it.

New Opportunities, New Challenges

As a cybersecurity expert and a representative of Patronusec, I couldn’t help but view this solution through the lens of risk. While innovative technologies are undeniably exciting, they also introduce new security challenges: from potential fraud attempts and risks of unauthorised access to the protection of personal and biometric data. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to test the security of this particular device — but I look forward to seeing similar solutions deployed in public spaces. I’ll be eager to put Click to Pay through its paces and assess how effectively it safeguards users in practice.

Money 20/20: Where Innovation Takes Shape

Money 20/20 Europe is more than just a conference — it’s a place where ideas are born and innovation becomes tangible. Visa demonstrated what true innovation should look like: not only impressing with technology, but above all, addressing user needs and setting new standards for security.

At Patronusec, we believe the future of payments and fintech belongs to those who combine the courage to innovate with a commitment to security. If you’d like to discuss how to effectively protect innovative solutions, we invite you to get in touch. Together, we can achieve more.
